DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
This film came about questioning who’s love to we care for more? The love we have for ourself, or the one we give to others? I’ve seen so many people give all of themself to a person and get nothing in return. Like an exchange without receiving anything. This heartbreak happens to everyone once in their life. The moment when you realise you care for someone more than they care for you. Or. You come in second place to something else, rather it be work, another person or children and your left asking yourself, “do I want to be in second place forever? Is this what I want for me?”
Filmed entirely in one room my goal was to trap you the audience with Violet and Laurie as they confront not only each other but themselves on their life and relationship. Seeing the ugliness in one another truly for the first time. We get caught in the middle watching the destruction fall apart.
I hope this film is a learning lesson for everyone watching. This isn’t a position you want to be in. You owe it to yourself to look after who you share your love with and give it to people who truly deserve it. We only have so much to give…
